painting bumpers on a 76

Hi all,,i recently bought my 76 Spider and previous owner painted the chrome tubes black. I don't like it. I plan on sinking the bumpers in a little and re painting the tubes. I just want them to blend in without looking to blingy,,,any ideas on what to use,,lets say type of silver or chrome paint or wheel paint ?

the problem is how much battering the bumpers will take from rocks and bug. I would consider doing a wrap or that new spray on stuff discussed here recently
