So I thought my engine was seized (I know, I went to the darkest hole), when I couldn't get it to rotate with the starter, or by pushing with it in 4th gear, or using a socket and breaker bar. Thanks to a recommendation on this board, I took a hammer and smacked the starter motor several times, turns out that was the solution.
The starter is original ('75) so I will be changing over to the newer model.
Point of this post is that there is a lot of good info available if you take the time to search.
Any good shade-tree mechanic should have thought of this, I'm definitely shade-tree, just not good.
