Midwest-Bayless making efforts to make things right!!
I ordered a set of fender flares from Midwest-bayless a couple of weeks ago. Then the nightmare started!! After about a week the flared had showed up. I was very excited. Opened the box and they were the wrong ones. I ordered for a spider and received ones for a coupe. OK no big deal I will contact them and tell them about the mis-shipped parts. Another $43 to ship them back and now I was gearing up to do the install and I look at my email to find out that after they checked their stock they don't even have a correct set of flares. WTF I thought that these people are supposed to be experts in this field. Sending flares that aren't even for the correct car. I could tell that they didn't fit a spider right out of the box. And I am just a lowly consumer not a FIAT expert. With my tally close to $400 to midwest and another $200 in supplies to install these parts I am SOL with no effort from Midwest to remedy other that refunding my money and telling me that they aren't going to be available for months.
P.S. If anyone knows of another supplier that sells the group 4 style flares that don't break the bank that would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the rant I just feel that people should know so they don't go through the same thing I did.

Re: Warning: Midwest-Bayless call before you order!!
Sorry that happened to you. I'm sure it was not intentional.
I had a similar experience with them, when they sent the wrong pilot bearing. Fortunately for me, they had the correct part in stock, and they actually overnighted it (at no extra charge!) so that I would have it for the weekend. They seemed to be interested in keeping my business, and I just had an order from them come in today with no problems.
Good luck on the flares.

I have never had an issue with Midwest however, I have never ordered any big ticket items from them.
That being said, I certainly feel your pain

I've been dealing with Matt for several years and have found him to be a good guy to deal with. This is very surprising to hear.

Re: Warning: Midwest-Bayless call before you order!!
When I was buying from Bayless (14 years ago) there was no other way to order, other than calling, and I never had a problem with their parts or the order process. But I haven't bought Fiat parts from them in a long time. I'd still bet that this was an unfortunate mistake.
Back then, Caribou was a different story, but I still managed to get my canvas top from them,...with a lot more effort involved, and it's a beauty!
Those were the only two major suppliers that I knew of at the time.
Good luck to you.
Todd.

Really surprised to hear this. Matt has been supplying parts for my resto (which is on the other side of the globe) with no issues.

Re: Warning: Midwest-Bayless call before you order!!
Sorry to hear your troubles. Both my son and I have gotten things from them without issue. I do have to say that I'm a bit old fashioned. I always call regardless of the vendor. Internet is easy, but I prefer to actually talk to someone to make sure the item is in stock before I place an order. That way if it isn't in stock I can call someone else. Saves time on everyone's part.

I know Matt pretty well and this sounds very unusual for them. I'm pretty certain that Matt, Marnie et al are on vacation right now... perhaps that may be the cause of some of the frustration.

I've ordered a lot from them since I got my X/19 and have never had a problem. They have also been extremely helpful in helping me solve technical issues along the way and getting the X sorted out. I'm sure this is the exception that happens from time-to-time with everybody.

Re: Warning: Midwest-Bayless call before you order!!
This is Matt, owner of Midwest-Bayless Italian Auto. I’m typing this while literally sitting in a cabin in the woods of Canada while on a family vacation. The internet is a wonderful thing. I think.
I’ve had communications today with Dan, author of the original post, and we’re working to resolve the issue.
The problem started with a simple mis-pick of merchandise on the original order shipment, (packaged a set of Coupe flares instead of Spider) and then escalated because of miscommunications between employees at the shop during my absence, about the availability of the Spider version of flares.
Sometimes process issues occur, regardless of our collective Walmart/Amazon shopping expectations. We obviously dropped the ball on this particular order, but we are not walking away from it. I require every Midwest-Bayless customer be given proper service, handling, and satisfaction. Every order. Every time. Occasionally this requires a little more patience and faith (by all parties), due to circumstance.
Thanks to all who alerted me to the issue here. And Dan, as stated in my emails, you have my assurances we will get this resolved when I return on Monday.

HOT DOG!!
There you go,...these are GREAT folks to do business with. I haven't had the need recently, but I did all of my business with them 14 years ago, and their integrity still stands, as before!
Please let the folks you know about this,...I'd hate for an isolated incident like this to detract from their business or reputation.
Todd.

Re: Warning: Midwest-Bayless call before you order!!
Thought I would throw in my $0.02 as I have recent experience with Midwest-Bayless and have ordered thousands of dollars of parts from all the major vendors of Fiat parts in the US.
First of all let me say, I have had wrong parts, returns, parts not packaged in the order or parts on back order from every single one of the major vendors except one (and that one I have only ordered twice from). Every single vendor has done the right thing and righted any wrong without any (or much) hassle.
Recently I ordered two parts from Matt at M-B. One was used reconditioned and arrived in perfect condition. The second was a NOS item and arrived a somewhat bent and mildly corroded. Apparently it wasn't closely inspected prior to being packaged. Because this was an exterior trim part in a prominent location, I sent it back asking for a refund (a very easy process with the pre-printed return labels and instructions). I expected to get a refund and then pick one up from another vendor. To my surprise today a package arrived from Matt containing a replacement part in perfect condition. I didn't have to call anyone, complain, or spend any extra money. They just put the customer first and did the right thing. Thanks Matt.
Sometimes we forget that another factor that adds to the value of these great little cars is the many different parts suppliers and the great people that operate them (and dispense free advice over the phone or on this forum). I hate to imagine the hassle of trying to restore and upgrade my car without all the choices and decent prices from our major vendors. If you couldn't source replacement parts or the parts were ultra-expensive, would there be so many of these cars that are being resurrected, customized, and enjoyed?
