Old Carb rebuild

Post by urbom »

This is the second '69 spider that I have had, and the second time I've worked on this engine. The first time, I had the engine and tranny out, was in the process of rebuilding the engine and working on the body when the shop I was in had a fire. The car and engine escaped but got soaked by the firemen, and I lost my place to work. Fast forward 15 years, I got another '69, and am taking the best of both cars to build a good one. 15 years ago I rebuilt the carb and it has been stored in a good dry place since. Is there any reason that I need to take it apart and rebuild it again, or can I just bolt it on?

you will need to install a new carb kit, the rubber parts will be hard or rotting. i would not chance this for the cost of the kit.

To add: not a full rebuild e.g. you probably don't need to disassemble the throttle linkages or any of that. Just the gaskets and rubber parts and replace the accelerator pump. Pretty much everything in the rebuild kit as they don't ship with many things in them these days.
