EMPI 32/36 DFEV

Post by mgwizdek »

Hello All,

I'm a new owner of a '79 Spider and new to the Spider world in general. After reading this forum I decided I wanted to upgrade my intake system. When I opened the hood and started to look around I noticed my current carburetor is stamped "EMPI" and "32/36" at the base. I assume this means I have a DFEV 32/36?

I'm not familiar with this carburetor, I had planned to install a 34ADF and a 1800 manifold. I believe the intake manifold is still the dual plane because it has a waffle pattern cast into the top.

So my question is whether or not the DFEV is a good upgrade or should I replace it with a 34ADF like I had planned. I suspect in either case I should swap in a 1800 intake, correct?

Thanks,

Mike

the DFEV is a good choice, whether it's weber or EMPI

if you have a 32/36, i'd keep it where it is. Take a picture of your current carb and manifold and post it up. pretty easy to determine which it is.

Thanks for the replies. I snapped a few photos of the carb this morning. The intake was very difficult to get a good picture of.

Yea,,, you need a single plane manifold.

Try to pay less than $70. I think I paid $55 shipped.
