Carb Inlet Manifold
Carb Inlet Manifold
Having persevered with problems on the fuel injection system of my 1980 2000 Spider (USA Spec'n) I decided to bite the bullet and swap to carbs. I have been supplied a lovely set of twin 40 Delortos and an inlet manifold. However, the inlet manifold won't fit as it comes up against the brake servo. Has anyone encountered this before and/or have advice on locating a manifold to support twin 40's that will fit?

I'm a FI guy but I understand the DCOE's will bump the brake booster and not usually used but the IDF's don't. I see the DCOE's on the Alfa's as the intake is on the passenger side.
Move to Aust. swap steering and then good to go....

Hmmm thanks - doesn't really help and I'm in the UK so no need to move!

And here's me, can't wait to dump the IDFs and fit injection.

Re: Carb Inlet Manifold
Our moderator sells a set of steel intakes for the IDF's. Check Allison's Automotive web site.
I should have asked if the Delorto's were side or down draughts. Side draughts usually don't fit unless one removes the booster.
I've also read here some time ago the 2L engines might have run a bit better with the 44's. They figured the 40's were great on the smaller displacements. Perhaps someone here can/will chirp in and correct me.
