This is why you change the guibo...

Needless to say, the above post is the end result of my guibo failure, back in April. I've got to order a few bits from Csaba on Monday, and then as soon as they arrive, I'm back in business. I've got hard brake line already, and I think the guibo failure did the tunnel clearancing for my 131 swap, already. :P

In all seriousness, though... I caught a couple of lucky breaks this time, and I think, if I'm lucky, I can get away without having to catch any more. I didn't realize how much it did damage the car, until after I got it on jackstands and apart.

Lucky it did not take your leg off...

BTW, I've owned about 20 Volvo 240s, the last ones was a 245Ti with standard trans and a B23FT engine.

The poor shifter housing came out in about a half dozen pieces... But yeah, it definitely beat the car up pretty well.

As for the 245, it just happened to be a really rusty, but strong-running B23F with a manual. I could've sworn the turbo 240s only came with the B21FT, though... /Volvonerd.

Anyway, yeah, I've got to get the center support bearing in the morning. I was able to source everything else locally, including the supposedly-stronger BMW guibo, but the center support bearing assembly has to be ordered. I don't trust 30+ year old rubber to support my driveshaft, anymore. 8)

Also, this is why it pays to be an IT guy with a bunch of machinist friends... Fix their computers, and they'll fix your driveshaft.

It started as a manual 124 driveshaft, and a couple of hours of work later... Win.
