I just switched out my dual plane manifold for a single plane. As a result, the dipstick has no attachment point. I know people have fabricated brackets to hold the dipstick in place, but I'm looking for ideas for a relatively easy solution. I was thinking of drilling and tapping the plug I put into the manifold, but I am worried about leaks. I originally tried JB Weld on the plug to attach the existing bracket, but that broke off easily.
Any pictures or suggestions of what I can fab would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Brian

Re: Any ideas/pics for Dipstick bracket Mods?
I found this solution and thought it was quick, easy and CHEAP!
There is this emissions thingy hanging on the fender. It is the little thing down in the lower right corner of this pic:
Here is another view of it. Mine was not connected to anything, and no one responded to my thread with an explanation as to it's intended function, so I pulled it. The part I am using is the bracket that holds this thing-a-ma-jig.
Then I cut the bracket basically in half and then slightly enlarge the one hole to fit the alternator's mounting bolt. This picture was not the final version. I had to round of the square corner that was bolting to the alternator. It ends up replacing the washer that was there.
And, tada! a neat little dipstick bracket.
If this isn't clear enough, ask away and I'll try to explain it better or take more pictures.

Using a setup from an injected Spider would be the easiest solution.

The early dipstick was short, and just pushed into the hole in the block. Does anyone know if they fit the new blocks ?

Yes, the early tubeless dipsticks work just fine in a 2L block, its what I'm using. You do need to make new level marks on the dipstick but that's easy to do with a file. Cleans up that side of the motor visually and functionally as the seal fits nicely in the lbock opening and you eliminate the seal between the block and tube which always seem to leak.
