how often does anyone change their steering box lube? and can you do it on the car?

My factory service manual suggests topping it off with 90wt Ep if it gets low. The unit holds 7.25 oz ... long as it had lube should be good to go.. the idler uses probably the same. Although they didn't talk about that in the manual.

I think i read on a few posts to leave to oil about 3/4 of an inch below completely full in the steering box. This seems to make sense to me.
