Mystery lever

Whats the big long lever on the left side of the steering column? I asked the guy I'm buying it from what it was and he said he didn't know.

ejection seat, Bond style.

not being able to see, we can only guess that it is the beam selector switch, the shorter lever in front of it is the turn signal switch.

sounds like the seller hasn't owned the vehicle long.

could be that too. though, i recall when i bought each of my Spiders.... i nearly slept in them the first couple of days, pouring all over each little nitch and cranny, learning everything there was to know. I think it took me about 38 seconds to figure out what the big lever was for.

yeah, the sellers only had it for about two years, and he didn't really ever drive it a whole lot. he hasn't even started it in a year and a half!

I vote for hi-low-beam, too. But you can get clarity by checking the user manual - e.g. here is a nice scan of a 1981 owners manual.
