Cam Box And Head Torqueing Question

Post by RRoller123 »

Going to check the valve lash today and first I plan to torque the Head and the Cam Boxes because it is completely unknown when this was last done.

Do you torque the Cam Boxes first and then the Head? Or the Head first and then the Cam Boxes? or does it not matter?

(I have the pattern and specs, don't need that.)

Thanks,

You should not have to retorque the cam box bolts, or for that matter the head bolts if all you are doing is checking the valve clearances.

Lord knows when they were last done. Did the Cam Boxes first and found two of the bolts well below 14, The head was fine as I had retorqued it myself about 1-1/2 years ago.
