ball joint removal
ball joint removal
Ok, I'm replacing upper and lower ball joints on my 78 spider. I was able to replace uppers with a hammer and a spreader fork, but the bottoms are have a rivet or stud in them do I driil these out? if so what kind drill do I use and type of bit? can Ipack bearing grease inthe joints or is there aspecial grease I should use?
Re: ball joint removal
you can drill them out, or grind them off or use a chisel. Drilling will be the slowest way to get them out. Wheel bearing grease is alittle different than chassis grease but if you can get it in to the joint at least it will lubricate it

Thanks So Cal Mark, grinding them off sounds like the way to go! I'll give it a go tomorrow hope its not raining!!! No garage and I live in Seattle.

Is that your house in Seattle that I see from Google Earth with the large stretched blue tarp next to his home?
