crankcase ventilation filter cleaning

Post by kenmataya »

quick question - can i pull the centrifugal screen for cleaning without removing the intake manifold? it looks like the bolt is pretty long and there's not much clearance under the intake manifold.

Thanks,
Ken

Once it comes out of the treaded part the bolt can tilt at a fair angle. You can take it out with the FI intake in place.

I know it has (or should have) a gasket, but it's a low pressure area so I doubt they leak much or at all. The design is a fluid trap (or "vapor separator"), there isn't a filter. There is supposed to be a flame trap inside the exit hose, and you can clean it with carburetor cleaner.

had a gasket from an old engine set, got it all back together. what a strange assembly, no real locator for the gasket or the cover!

Thanks,
Ken
