Hello
I'm working on my new project car ('76 124 Spider) and I'm trying to get the car to idle smoothly under 2k rpm (yes I know that is high)
I started checking vacuum lines and came across this under my carburetor:
Does anyone know what this is? I'm assuming something that needs a vacuum line - but what is it?

Re: Vacuum Lines
the item in question appears to be a mechanical fuel pump. I'm assuming you have an electric fuel pump mounted somewhere that is supplying the carb w/ go juice. if so, said item requires no vacuum lines or fuel lines attached. judicious application of carb cleaner in and around intake areas generally proves fruitful in locating vacuum leaks.
if you can't be an example, be a warning.

Re: Vacuum Lines
Thanks rja, for identifying that mystery part for me.
Yes - I do know there is an electric pump in the trunk for the go-juice.
I wasn't sure what it was, but I figured someone else has seen it before. I guess I should have waited for my Haynes manual to show up in the mail before I started tinkering...

Get the FIAT manual as a cross reference. The Haynes manual has some errors and isn't very easy to follow. The shop manual is far superior.

Thanks bradartigue for the info. I did just get my Haynes Manual as well as finding a PDF of the shop manual - definitely a difference!
