No kidding, the folks in east/central Canada are facing the same thing. I have worked in those temps under a helicopter(-42 C ) but for those trying to get things done that are not used to this kind of cold, man they are having a hell of a time.

Currently I am trying to build a new lean-to type shelter on the side of a building I am buying for my little saw mill. I'm having a devil of a time trying to dig footings for posts with the ground only having about 1-1.5 feet of frost. I cant imagine building in those temps as here it is only about -3 deg C or perhaps 28 F.

This new building is a great one, it comes with two workshops, one for wood stuff and another for car stuff complete with a hoist

Deep freeze at one end of the globe, a melt-down at the other.
This shot was taken in my garage / workshop at 3pm today. There'll be no work going on, or Spider driving, until at least the weekend when a cool change will drop us down below 40C (100+F). Being in a rural area we're also concerned about bushfires after such a heatwave. A touch of your polar vortex would be quite refreshing

For the record, those of us in Phoenix have probably run our Fiats in 100+ without issue. As long as the cooling system is fine that is.
