Making New Hard Trunk Floor…..??
Ok, so I want to replace my '79 Spider's (warped) original trunk floor boards. Ok to use 1/4" plywood? Does it have to be in 2 pieces like the original or can I do it in 1 lg. piece? Probably a stupid question, but I guess I haven't look closely enough. Thanks again guys, & all the best in 2014! Don in Pa.

Needs to be 2 pieces to get it in there properly fitting, and to get the spare out. 1/4" thk is a little flimsy, 1/2" thk is a little too heavy (imho). I went with 3/8, and like Goldilocks porridge, I think it is just about right!

This was my solution:

I think it was 3/8 thick also.

That trunk work in those links is fantastic.
The thread talks about the boards going up. Prior to 1980 they did not go up; after that the trunk was fully carpeted. I don't know if it was an option prior to 1981, I doubt it, most cars just had the two boards and a piece of carpet.

Early cars have a rubber mat.
