Funny you should ask.... opened a bottle of Harvey's Bristol Cream (Sherry) and off I went and made the proverbial man-mess in the kitchen tonight.

Shortbread cookies-two trays and my mom's recipie for cherry-chews.-one tray this year.
As a bonus fried up a bunch of sausages, cut them in two and added them to a concoction of ketchup, sherry and crushed garlic. Let cool/sit overnight and great picking food for guests..(and Santa)
Now a glass of wine and waiting for Santa to arrive.
Have a good / safe one tomorrow people, all the best eh...

Sure....Double wrap a sub sandwich in foil and strap it to the exhaust manifold. 15 minutes of driving later you'll have a perfectly toasted sub. Mmmmmmm. Baking is fun! ... and, yes, it does work.

Did all the usual Christmas goody stuff. fudge, almond roca, eggnog bread. the wifey and grandgirls went crazy last weekend making mints, and a few varieties of cookies. I have hot fudge sauce on my to-do list this morning as my sister just sent me my supply of Boehms semi-sweet.
BTW, had a "fudge-off" with one of the girls at work who took great pride in her old family recipe and considered herself to have very discriminating taste when it comes to fudge. I won unanimously.

Nope. Never needed to.
When I left my mother at the age of 19, whose baking I thought could not ever be surpassed, I existed entirely on a diet of fast food and beer.
Then at 25 I met my wife who just so happened could bake for England!

I have a blessed life...
My two cents ain't worth what it used to be

What do you expect from a guy living down the block from Mastoris? 8)

Just like in Fiat restoration, the best "ingredients" yield the best results. King Arthur flour (their cookbook is outstanding). My annual batch of walnut nut bread is nearly gone, and it's still December :o

George, my buddy in Bernardsville built a brick oven in his backyard this summer. I think we should plan a drive to "accidentally" arrive there some afternoon.
