Transporting my engine

Post by aj81spider »

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but hadn't got around to it. I needed to transport my engine to be rebuilt, and didn't want it rolling around in the back of my friend's SUV - so I built this to transport it. It worked great. The engine is stable - with the handles it is an easy two person lift, and I left it on the on the floor of my garage for a while until I got the car into a state where I could put the engine back in.

If anyone is looking to transport an engine it takes less than a couple of hours to build. The box surrounds the oil pan and supports the engine. The two towers on either side let you bolt the engine mounts so the engine won't move (although it didn't seem like it was going to move anyway).

If you're referring to the truck I borrowed to move the engine - it's a few year old Ford Escape.
