After I get this thing sandblasted and rustrepaired (this is one word for Fiat owners), what do you think is the best way to spray the underside? I was thinking a 2-part Urethane over an epoxy primer. I think that should be strong enough to take the elements. Is black the only option in color? Has anyone seen a color that looks totally bitchin' that they would like to try? What about brake calipers and springs? I am sure that there are purists that only want black (which is fine with me), but try to persuade me another way.
Has anyone installed a subwoofer system in their trunk like you see on TV (Unique Motor-sports is the show that usually does this, but I cant stand watching because they fight all the time like the father/son on Orange County Chopper, which I definitely dont watch any more because they build motorcycles that Disney would produce; cute and cuddly). Maybe one of us could produce the Pirates of the Caribbean Fiat Spider.LOL. Enough of my rant.

I didn't paint the underside of my Fiat, mainly because it was a rolling restoration but Ron did take the fuel tank out, primed and refinished it with poly and clearcoat. It has held up perfectly for the 11 years it's been painted and I can wash it with car wash solution and wax it to look brand new.

Re: painting the under chassis and suspension
Hi Pope,
I have to do the same on my car. I just got the rotisseries done. I heard that a lot of people use the Por 15 to do the underside of the car. I was told you can paint on top of Por 15 to change the color if you want. But you have to do it when it is still wet. Or it won't stick due to the smoothness after it dries. I haven't tried it yet. I read on the Forum that some put the speakers in the back seat area. If you figure it out. Let me know and show the pics. If you were to do the Pirates of the Caribbean theme, where would the mast go? I got it, you could have a two part BOOT!

Went to Autorama last night and noticed that most of the cars up for the Ridler Award were painted the body color underneath. Some painted the actual frame black, but all the flat metal was body color. All this color looked great.
This is a picture of a car called Ferrambo. Built to be stylized like a Ferrari but built on a Rambler station wagon base. The luggage is under the front hood and the engine was in the back station wagon part. WOW!
He used the Ferrari style of lettering on the car.
They also had ProjectX car there.

now that's a combo I've never imagined; a Ferrari/Rambler mating. Someone should lay off of the peyote while they're out in the garage
