Lower the rear?
I love our '79 Spider, but a couple people have told me that I should think about lowering the rear, in their opinion. One field of thought seems to be that the factory made the rear of Spiders sit up too high. Should I even consider it? Is it a matter of aesthetics or is there a good engineering reason to consider lowering?
Re: Lower the rear?
You should post a picture or two of your Spider so we can see what it looks like.
Ride height is determined by two things, the springs and the shocks. I put IAP performance springs on my Spider, fitted with stock KYB shocks, and brought the ride height down 1 to 1 1/2 inches.
There have been many posts on this subject. The search feature here is something you should explore. Here is just one link for example. I just searched under "springs":

Check to see if you might have different shocks on the back then the front. Maybe you can make out the brand too.
Good Luck

Re: Lower the rear?
the car will handle and brake better with a lower ride height in the rear. The 2L cars did sit very high in the rear. You'll have to either replace or cut the springs
