Replaced some fuel lines.

Post by garion »

My car has been having the issue of "takes forever to start", because the fuel has run back into the tank..

So I ordered a bunch of 5/16th fuel line from Amazon (link) and a couple sets of new hose clamps (link)..

Also order the check valve from one of the usual vendors..

I replaced the bit that is 3 hoses to a separator, down out of the trunk to the metal line.. Had some trouble getting the fuel line through the grommet, so I took the grommet out, slid it onto the line, then put the line through to the trunk from underneath. Got it all into, and then attempted to press the grommet back into place. It seems that the new fuel line is thicker then the old, and it just refused to go in..

So to fix that I ended up cutting the grommet, taking a small piece out (somewhere between 1/4 to 1/8 of the grommet)... I was then able to get the grommet in, at least most of the way around.. Should be enough to hold the line in place and prevent rubbing. So I hope.

I still need to replace the rest of the rubber in the trunk, the main fuel line and the return. But I hope that this fixes my hard start issue.

Yep! thats the thread I reference when gathering stuff up. It was also the first time I saw a picture of the elusive check valve. No where else had apicture of it. I heard it was rumored in the engine compartment, then in the trunk.. When I finally saw the picture of underneath the car, it was a AHA! moment.
