Returning to Stock Height After Bumper Removal

Post by RossoVeloce »

I had always known that my 78 sits pretty high, but since I love the bumperless look so much it's never really bothered me. That is until yesterday when I saw a stock 78 at a local car show. My car looks like cousin Bubba's lifted Chevy in comparison!

What's the best spring choice to return to stock height without compromising the ride and drastically changing the handling characteristics? I don't want to attempt cutting the springs.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I find the term stock means 2 things with the Spiders. there is the Euro spec and the US spec. You are spoiled for choice in the US, but if I were you I'd for the Euro spec height, which is basically the height pre US federal bumper laws. What ever you do don't go too low it will cause problems.

Csaba and Ramzi stock the progressive lowering springs. I really like the ride height they provide. I chose to keep the original 13 inch tires on the car and before I changed the springs it did look like I could go off road with it.
