How to beat smog in Cali?

Post by spiderrey »

Does this make sense?
How to defeat SMOG in California.

First mods. Please do not erase this it is completely LEGAL. I have been using this method for quite a few years now.

I am saying this now because I hate this state and its regulations and I am very happy to be moving from it.

1 – California is a state that still allows for car registrations under a Post Office box.
2 – There are regions in this state that are called Change of Owner. Use this link provided by the DMV to find an are that is called “Change of Ownership” Typically look in places that have very little population.
3 – If you live close to these places (mine is a 35 minute drive) you can simple apply for a PO box from the post office of that local town. It will cost you about 78 dollars a year.
4 – If you do not live close to these towns simply set up a UPS store mailbox. I am not too sure about the pricing but they can forward your mail to your house.
5 – After setting up these new addresses you can do as I did and simple go over to your local AAA and switch your cars registration to your new SMOG free until you sell the car. I have 4 cars all are registered to my PO box and have been for around 9 years and not one smog check.

I have been pulled over in my B20 hatch all motor with no cat and 2 ½ inch exhaust. The cops pulled up my registration and could don’t do a thing because it was completely LEGAL.

Finally I can enjoy my car and all the money I have spent to make it fast, without the 2 year worry of smog checks.

I hope all of you can do this and also enjoy your rides.

what is considered a small town or small enough? do you know what the population cap to get this to work might be?

the statement at the end of the post is completely wrong. Just because your residence area does not require bienniel smog tests does not allow you to remove the emission equipment. Cars with disabled or modified smog equipment can still be impounded. Smog tests are still required on Change of Ownership anywhere in Calif

But I heard of this before that in some small towns they don't enforce smog testing if there's A lack of local test
facilities available? not just in cali but AZ as well I just never looked into this.
