door panel saga finished
Here is a pictorial of getting the door panels to fit on doors with no mounting holes. One note, the alignment of the door handles are not the same on the PS. It is lower by about 15 degrees. This could probably be adjusted with a little dremel grinder. I have chrome handles as well, but the fit on the cog pin was extremely tight.

Where did you get the door handles at? Were they expensive?

"the 2 extras require an "A" hole"
What kind of drill bit makes an A-hole? Is it puckered?
Nice work Russ, looks beautiful.

Looks great and great work! It looks so much cleaner without the screws on the outside. Incredible attention to detail and follow through! Thanks for the write up and one quick question, who's panels are they/vendor? Thanks, Giuseppe

I got the panels from Auto Ricambi. I had the door handles sitting around from past coupes i parted out. They are probably off a 75. I have some chrome one from a 70. but they were too tight for the stem.

Great looking job! You have much more patience than me; I used "finishing" black sheet metal screws w/washers.
Maybe reposition your window crank to 12 o'clock with window fully down. You are less likely to kick it getting in and out.

Re: door panel saga finished
I was about to order some interior pieces and remembered this thread and had another question if you don't mind... I was originally asking where you got the black arm rest/pull handles from and I think you thought I was referring to the chrome door handle (opener). In my travels I came across them fairly inexpensive, around a hundred bucks or so, but now I can't seem to remember who was selling them. Mr. fiat has them but if memory serves from a few moths ago and they are over 200/each from them. Where were you able to find them and if you don't mind telling what did pay?azruss wrote:I got the panels from Auto Ricambi. I had the door handles sitting around from past coupes i parted out. Anyone else that may read this, if you have any recommendations for the black arm rest/pulls in terms of good quality and fit please feel free to chime in!
Thanks in advance
Giuseppe

The arm rest were original with the car. Just painted them with black SEM rattle paint. I also used the SEM prep and they came out looking factory. I bought the mylar trim from AR. I also have a set of arm rests from a 70 and the surface is like a high density foam. I have not messed with those to see if they are restorable. You may want to talk to Csaba and see if he has a decent set of used ones.
The interior door handles are from a 124 coupe. They are flipped upside down from their normal position in a coupe.

Thanks Bud for the quick reply... I, unfortunately have blue arm rests. It's killing me that I can't remember the site I was brousing. I don't think it was a Spider specific site and was on some random fiat site which happen to sell these that are standard on many 70's era Fiats like the 131. I just check Mr. fiat and they are 200/each and worst case scenario I'll order them from there but I'm going to keep checking since they were half that on said other site... The search continues, lol

mine were originally blue as well. you can easily paint them if they are in decent shape.
