Post by jpaulus53 »

I just pulled the rear springs from my 77, and although i new
it sat way to high, i was surprised when i measured the springs.
Check it out 18 inches free hight.

Hey there,

I for one, would love to hear comments from the poster (if you purchase) and any other comments on affordable new springs.

The listing posted looks intriguing, however, i have no frame of reference for any of the specs. it is a pretty yellow : )

have a great day - stevie b

Stevie,
Jim posted a followup post "Very Confused" in the link below:

See my posted reply (FiatMac). He only got about a 3/4" drop in ride height with the 125 lb/inch 16 inch springs. As you can see from my analysis, the Fiat OEM spring rate specification had quite a range. The results you get depend upon the rate of your OEM springs and the amount of deterioration, if any, in your springs.

In Jim's case, it appears that he was towards the low end on the OEM spring. I had some correspondence with him, and last I heard, he was going to go with a 100 lb/inch 16 inch spring, which should have given him an approximate 1.7" drop in ride height. I have not heard from him nor seen a post as to his actual results.
