Shift lever question
My lever pulls out of the boot pretty easily which might be normal right? but recently Ive noticed a loud rattle sound which is basically the lever itself vibrating. Im not sure if it is missing a part that engages it better or if the sudden vibration is a tranny issue starting to happen. It is particularly loud in second gear but also audible in 3rd...

Re: Shift lever question
the situation depends on whether just the chrome lever pulls up or both the upper and lower levers come up. If both levers are loose, the short shifter won't help the situation at all.

Re: Shift lever question
I like the shorter throw of the Michigan shorter shifter, but the rattle drive me nuts. Even on my rebuilt tranny, it rattles in some gears. My rat racer just has a knob stuck on the lower lever with a set screw and actually works pretty good, but the exhaust is so loud that if it is rattling I wouldn't hear it.

Re: Shift lever question
So it is just the chrome upper part that pulls off. I see the parts diagram in my manual and it looks like i might be missing a couple of rubber pieces although there is at least one shoved inside the chrome tube. Is that what helps with the rattling issue?
