1976 124 Spyder

Post by Colonialgirl »

I've got a 1976 Fiat Spyder that has been sitting for about 12 years, I parked it when the starter went out (since replaced) and haven't driven or started it since then. Iam pretty sure the engine will turn over if cranked. The body is in pretty good shape, but the dash has cracks and the seat upholstery is in bad need of repair. I have some spares (Radiator, Alternator, etc), the original tool set and jack. I was wondering what its worth "AS-IS' , "Where-IS".There are New brake lines for it and a brand new top (not installed) which I would sell separately or together with the car.
Any ideas on the Value or what I should ask for it?
PS: I DO have the ORIGINAL paperwork showing that somebody traded in a Corvette on it when it was new. It IS and always has been a Florida Automobile.

I don't want to sell parts; If I was young and spry enough to take parts off, I would do the work and put it back on the road cause i LOVED driving it.

Pam, I agree that some pictures would help with a guess-timate. Being a Fla car could be good or bad depending on how much sea salt it was exposed to. Are the rockers, floor boards, front shock towers, and wheel wells solid? How many original miles are on it if known? And getting it running would probably more than pay for itself and sell it faster. I think we all tend to under value these cars, and Jim, well he's just being Jim :D

Pamela,

Based on what info you provided, you're probably looking at $500-$1000 max depending upon the condition of the body, bumpers, glass, etc. If you paid to get the starter replaced and got it running, you might be able to get $1,500-$1,750 in the condition you mentioned. Again, it depends upon the condition of the body.

Okay;
I aint great at posting pictures on the internet but:
1.It has ALWAYS been a Florida auto; Originally purchased in Winter Park Florida (by Orlando) and NEVER lived near the salt air.
Closest to the water of Tampa Bay would have been 20 + miles away inland.
2.The CAR is now located near Zephyrhills, FL.
I'd work on it and put it running condition, the Brain is willing and drooling over the idea; BUT the body is saying, "Go take a flying leap, If you get down on the ground you'll need an engine hoist to get you back up." I guess at 72 years it is demanding respect.
I've had it covered with a tarp, so for the floor boards, shock towers etc, I'd have to go uncover it and take a look.
33. When I purchased it, it had 20K on the Odometer, agian I'd have to look, but I'd guess around 35-40K now; Just a guess.

I'll do some looking later today, right now we have to go pickup a NEW BBQ grill at Wallyworld.

So, what's going on with the car Pam? Have you sold it? If Beek hasn't grabbed it, I might be interested.
