The Infamous Driver Side Rear Bumper Shock Removal

Post by davery »

I have everything off the car for paint except the drivers side rear bumper shock. I wouldn't worry about it but I am finally putting on the rear bumperettes. It is my understanding that the gas tank can be raised slightly and slid over to allow the bolt to come free. Any other secrets I need to know? Can I do it without taking the filler hose off?

I did this recently, I removed the 4 nuts holding the gas tank and used a car jack under the tank. I then raised the tank the few inches needed to get it to slide to the passenger side to get the bolt removed. I did remove the shield from the main filler tube so I could make moving the tank easier.

Just take it slow and move easy.

just pull the tank so you can reseal it to the car when done
yes remove the filler hose and fuel lines

i scraped and repainted the tank while out
also repainted the trunk floor
and used a window seal for the tank to body seal
it looks good :D
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)
