Floor rail

Post by fiat218 »

Has any one thru there years I of buying a spider ever run across where some dum azz smashed down th floor rails like this
Image

I'm wondering if I Need to remove the center peice, I got my new rails here but I have not open the box yet, as I'm typing it ws dropped off, if I cut way where they fit,I should be ok?right

Ok I open the box, here is the rails, notice the higher one, that got the passenger side, I got 2 of them
Lower are the drivers side, why are they different height ?
Ok the question was, as you look at the rails you see how the inner is shaped up ward, I do understand why it is like that
But I don't have that metal there any more ,it smashed all down,
Would I need some support under that part? I'm thinking I don't

Thanks

that cross support is there to take the weight of the seats and passengers. I would try to repace it with some type of channel. The tall ones are for the bump in the floor boards on cat models.

Prior PO probably had non-stock seats that needed that little extra space provided by beating down the rails?

As I was installing the starter,I looked up and seen light thru the driver side floor pan. I wasn't to thrilled, then I thought hell that won't be to bad
Later I thought,I might as well fix it because I got to get the rails welded too, so I ordered that pan, passenger side is great
More expense :o

Rails from vicks
The center piece that goes across under the rails, got them from wolf steel and the driver side floor pan
Cheaper to get them from wolf steel, I would have saved 180.

Vicks is like 149 for the rails and 189 for the crossmember piece
Wolfs steel is a 1/3 of that price
The guy name is robin wilkinson, sounds like a very good person

Think of them as you would Auto Ricambi. I have seen numerous references to them in local forums etc (all good experiences).
