Interchanging Steering Idlers
Interchanging Steering Idlers
Does anyone know for sure if steering idlers are the same from year to year? I think I have traced a loose steering problem to a worn-out, loose idler. My car is a '78, but there's a '72 idler on Ebay right now. It's pretty cheap, but I don't want to throw money away if they don't interchange.
Re: Interchanging Steering Idlers
Sweet. Thanks for the confirmation.
There's a new steering idler "kit" (you have to assemble it yourself) on ebay as well, listed as "fitting all years of 124 spider." It looks substantially different that the other idlers on there, and different than what's on my car. It looks like it's missing the top half. Would I reuse the existing top half? Is there no top half on that style? What's the deal with that?

the only new idlers available are a more traditional idler with rubber bushings. I like the original oil-filled dampeners, though they do require a little maintenance
