To those who pray

All,

If you're a praying person, please pray for me. I am losing pigment in my skin and it appears I have Vitiligo (the pigment loss made famous by Michael Jackson). It is an auto immune disorder that causes white patches of pigment-less skin on the body. Mine has appeared on my face and hands and seems to be spreading quickly. I am seeking a doctor to get a definitive diagnosis on Monday.

I post this here because I will not be able to expose myself (especially my face and hands) to the sun without risk of making the condition worse and putting myself at risk of skin cancer. If Vitiligo is confirmed, I will be forced to sell both Spiders as I will not be able to drive top-down any longer.

I love driving my cars and would appreciate prayers from you all.

John, sorry to hear the bad news. Sun exposure is a real issue in Arizona. I am shopping for some nice light white long sleeve dress shirts and long pants. Also considering gloves as i have an old school wood steering wheel that is guaranteed to melt skin when touched. I have found a great gardeners hat that is wide brimmed with a floppy back to contend with the headrest and a chin strap to keep it from going airborne. There is always SPF4000.

Sorry to hear that John. I had/have a skin condition too that causes similar discolorations. However, no need to sell the spider. The best drives are in the cool night air, no taffic, no hot glaring sun, and its quiet so you an hear the engine.

Hang in there John. I agree with all of the thoughts above. I've got several patients that come into my pharmacy that seem to as least keep the condition in check with topical steroids and immunosuppressants. And yes, the highest SPF sun block you can find.

My brother has had Vitiligo for about 20 years. When he was first diagnosed, it was "spreading" very quickly, but after diagnosis/treatment slowed to the point that I'm not sure he has had any noticeable pigment loss in the past decade.
He doesn't avoid the sun - just diligently uses sunscreen (SPF 50 or above).
No need to get rid of the Spider!
