I just a vinyl ordered one tonight. Researched nearly every vendor plus ebay sources. I'm not sure if I decided due to accumulated positive comments (by researching posts here) or out of exhaustion. Chose Germanex because of multiple comments about a good fit. Shipping was a whopping $40 though. Many of our Fiat parts vendor friends have tops made with Haartz or Robbins materials, which should be good products, but with multiple expensive projects going on with my car I needed to choose from the lower cost options. My car previously had a canvas top from IAP. Not sure how old it was, but it dissolved as I removed it.

Just ordered one from Topsonline after having posted the same question here a few months ago.

Highly recommend. Friendly helpful service.

I about to get mine (1977 spider) from them:

They seem to be the shippest around also the quality looks good.

I am thinking of going with Diamond Mall. $275 for a Haartz canvas top delivered. Anyone buy from them before?

I'm in the same position - needing a new top for a 1979 Spider. There's a lot of discussion about where to order from - online distributors/manufacturers, eBay, etc. But my big question is which types should I be looking at? Material is the biggest factor; is canvas worth the extra? What is the build quality difference, longevity, wear, effects of exposure to sunlight, etc.

I plan to drive it mostly during the warmer months, so I'd hope to drive primarily with the top down. However, during the winter, I don't have a garage to store it in (maybe I can work one out) but I have a car cover for it. I'm looking to get the most value for money, it's not necessarily for a show piece.

To be honest, I'm leaning towards canvas, but only because I feel the material's quality will be longer lasting, but I'm wanting to know if that assumption is true and/or worth it.

this sounds like a good deal.i like canvas

i bought mine at IAP its vinyl
it does a fine job
i keep the top up most of the time.this keeps it from cracking where it folds
mine is 6 yrs old and still looks new
the first two yrs it was outside for the winter
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)
