Surprise!

Post by rjkoop »

I'm done preping the inside of the vehicle for welding and POR-15. Yeah! Problem is when I was looking closely under the car I noticed that some of the unibody frame was bent. :x Looked like during the car's 31 year history someone rear ended the vehicle and the frame buckled a bit. It's pushed up and indented on what looks like the main frame of the unibody just before the firewall area.

What should I do about this if anything? The car drives straight, rocket panels look good, the doors close well and from inside the car there is no evidence of anything wrong. Do I need to get a frame straightening? Is that possible on a unibody frame? I sure hope after all the work on the interior I don't have to walk away from this car.

I'll try to post a few pictures tonight.

Richard it looks like it was pushed in by the arms of a hoist.

That looks unlikely to be from an auto accident.

Mine is like that and so is my Miata, it was caused by the previous owners using a jack on the wrong spot. It has caused no problems in the 50000 kms I have driven the Miata.
