shipping a bumper/best way?

Post by 72Steve »

I bought a bumper in Colorado only to find packing and shipping cost more than the bumper. Does anyone know a cheap place to ship from? I got quoted much lower and when the seller brought the bumper in to be shipped it was three times the original quote. Even where to buy a single box the bumper would fit in (12x12x72) around the Denver area. I found some but had to buy 10. Any ideas or recommedations would be appreciated, Steve

Greyhound! The only way to go for large items, not so good for people though.

Thanks for the greyhound recommendation, wouldn't have thought it. I wonder if bubble wrap and duct tape would work? The seller is way cool, but doesn't want to package it.

Grayhound works, but if it's the later style bumper, both Fedex and UPS will ship an unboxed item.
If it is shipped to a business address it will cost ~20% less.
If the seller took it to a UPS or Fedex store to have THEM box it, then yes, it will cost an arm and a leg.
If they need a big box they can go to the back of department stores and get a refrigerator carton, take it home and
cut it down to size and make a box. Cheap but time consuming.
