Cam pullys swirtched

Post by btexpress »

I am told it is possible to switch the intake and exhaust cam pullys . Does anyone know how to tell the difference by looking at them ie. stamped with a code. They do not indicate left or right. A local fiat mechanic said there is a subtle way to tell but did not tell me how. There are some numbers and letters stamped on the pully but nothing I can understand.

Searching always helps :) Quick answer is with the pullies facing you as they would be on the cams the dowel holes in the 12:00 positions you will see that the intake alignment hole will be just left of the 12:00 position and the exhaust will be just to the right. Also may have STAMPED in the metal S for exhaust and A for intake.

Just to add the S stands for Scarico which is Exhaust in Italian and the A is Aspirazione which is Air intake
