Another Weber DGEV Question

Post by leoneo01 »

I have searched this forum with regards to people trying to install the DGEV rather than the DFEV. I know it isnt recommended but it was not clear to me why.

What are the main reasons it is frowned upon? Is it only because the shaft rotates in opposite directions?

Just to explain myself, before this car, I started restoring a 76 BMW 2002 and bought a plain 32/36 DGEV. Since the car is a 76 and is not CA smog exempt, I bought another DGEV with the CARB EO plate. Now I have an extra dgev and it would be a shame to let this go to waste.

The biggest difference between the DG and DF series of carbs is the fact that the throttle linkages are reversed so if you were to put a DG series carb on a spider you would have to modify the throttle linkage.
