Great story!

A New York man retired, wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it
would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal .

The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 yrs.; the owner and wife
both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes.

There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and
they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to
see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property
anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place.

The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved
in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him.

So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......
and cut thru the welds.

What was in the barn...............?

Here that sound? that was your bubble bursting.

this story has been flying around the 'net for a couple of years now, or at least it seems that long.

The version I heard was that the guy who actually stocked the building had a auto dealership, and these cars were mostly taken in trade at his establishment for something "new".

If I were to buy a sealed mystery garage it would probably be full of tax collectors or, toxic waste or, zombies.... Or Toxic zombie Tax collectors!

people don't buy sheds THAT BIG without checking to see what's in 'em first. Did anybody check snopes for this one?

what i find odd about this story is the broad range of cars everything
from cars that aren't worth anything to some that are worth a ton of
money in good condition .

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess when you got more money than you need, you are bound to do something stupid, or crazy with some of it....or why have it? Wish i could find myself in the position of having too much money.

I also heard that this guy is retiring/is retired, and that some of this collection is starting to appear on the auction blocks.
