San Diego Yunk Yard Report

Post by fiatS2000 »

I made a run to all the SD yunk yards that are known to have Italian cars.
I found 6 cars at 4 different yards, and 5 of the 6 should have never made it to the yunk yard. It was kinda sad to see these cars being picked appart.
Here is what I found:
Ecology on Energy Way:
1979 spider 2000 automatic.(this was the worst of the bunch)

Two very nice 1981 FI Lancia Zagatos. power windows, AC, clean interiors(one was missing seats), very nice dashes(no cracks on either), both had the 14" wheels(I got one set), good glass all around, All removable body parts(hoods, trunks, doors) were perfectlly straight.

Pick-Your-Part on Energy Way:
Alfa 164(Didn't get the year).

Ecology on Heritage Rd:
Alfa Spider(again, didn't get the year).

Ecology in Oceanside:
Not really Italian, but close enough.
1988 Yugo GVL. had AC, nice roof rack, nice clean interior, stereo that says yugo on it, and electronic ignition. I got the tool box from it(missing some tools), if anyone is looking for one. also got a cool light bulb and fuse holder.

Being in Canada I find it crazy to see so many cars in the Junkyard without rust on them! The Alfa Spider looks sweet compared to my everyday driver. (97 Geo Tracker)

Yup. I got the complete FI system of the Fiat on day one. It helps to have inside help...
Life in SD is gooooood. Top is down, boot is on and not gonna change 'til the next wash.

It's definitely unnatural to see junk cars without rust. Wouldn't it be fun to restore a car and not have to deal with rust? I can only imagine!
