I thought that Pin. Corvette is supposed to be sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction at the 2008 in Scottsdale, but I can't find it on their docket. Figured they might have more pictures there. Darn. I'm Interested to see what it goes for, wanna take guesses? I'll make my bet for ~ 1.5 mil. (i really have no clue what would be appropriate for a one-of-a-kind like this)
I have loved corvettes since I was a more childish boy than I am currently and have owned a 68 roadster for years and I always thought I wouldn't change a thing on a pre 72 vette. Then you guys post this up! Wow what a beatiful car now that it looks like a Spider! I want one can anyone loan me some money my grandchildren can pay back?

Re: Corvette Rondine and 124 Spider
My sentiments exactly. It's a beautiful car! But my husband was not impressed. He and his father have owned hundreds of Corvettes over the years...we live on Corvette Lane...but it's unconceivable for him to see a Fiat and Corvette mate. Oh well, even with all his faults, I'll still keep him.

Re: Corvette Rondine and 124 Spider
The Corvette Rondine and the Fiat 124 Spider were not only both designed by the Pininfarina design house but both cars were also designed by the same designer, Mr Tom Tjaarda was was born and raised in the U.S.A.
"One his first jobs for Pininfarina had been a special-bodied Corvette called the Rondine, a one-off show car first seen at the Paris Salon in 1963. When, in the same year, he began his 1/5 scale models for what was to become the 124 Spider, it was the Rondine, more than anything, that influenced the shape first spotted by the Italian motoring press three years later when it was being tested on an autostrada near Turin.
Nearely identical to the Rondine was the character line that swept from the middle of the front wing and then kicked up above the door handle to form the top of the rear wing. From the rear, very similar, although less exaggerated, was the inward slanting boot and rear panel, while there were strong rondine echoes in the roofline of the optional hardtop, although the reverse-rake rear window, in the style of the Ford Anglia, had been abandoned."
