Thinking about swapping my airfilter with the power stack. The claims are that it adds HP to the car. Just want to know if the claims are worth the $150 or so it will cost to add or if the increase is so marginal that there is no value. Perhaps there are other reasons that I need to know (or bad effects).

It looks like a K&N Filter...which I have thank you very much!

I assumed this was a popular thing... Aparently not. I found it at IAP.

They claim it improves performance hoping someone on the board has used one and it made a difference.

If it's a K&N filter, no doubt it's better quality than the oem paper filter. It's not really a cold air kit since it's still drawing underhood air. But using a higher quality filter is always a good thing. I just wouldn't expect any huge perf gain, especially on a stock motor. Certainly looks cooler than the oem air box

I know of several people who claim changing stock filter w/a K&N ,and then drilling some holes in the airbox will make it breathe as well as the IAP setup. I see your in Atl. Did you have the car at Italian Car Day in Duluth last month? Craig

it looks like it wouldnt be to hard to build a box around that thing so that it would just draw cold air from the front. and you could run an intake air hose to it if needed. just my 2 cents.

Yes I'm in Atlanta. I live in Lawrenceville, not too far from Collins Hill High. Didn't know about the Italian day in Duluth. :( Did get in some nice driving up in the Dahlonega area though!!

Can't decide if I want it to rain so I can wash the car or keep sunny so I can drive the car

I ordered a filter kit from Gus Zeisman ,an FLU member. It is really nicely engineered and a snap to install. It was less than$100,including a top of the line K&N filter.Looks great in the engine bay. He makes no claims as to h.p. gains, which as we know would be minimal w/ a f.i. car. Contact fiatman@comcast.net. This is not a paid political announcement ,but he is a good guy and loves these cars. :P Hi my fellow Fiat Freaks :P
Make you Fiat's engine bay look awesome & improve air flow at the same time. Go from the original flat FI air filter configuration to a cone filter with this kit. Kit includes the air flow mounting bracket, filter mounting flange and hardware to secure the AFM to the bracket. What is NOT included is the filter element & gasket (between AFM & filter mounting flange). The gasket can be made from senor safe liquid gasket compound. It is designed to use the K&N RR-28 series cone filter element however any filter will work providing the inlet flange is 2.75" & close to the RR-28 dims..
The mounting bracket is laser cut from 3/16" thnk steel, formed & bowder coated gloss black. Structurally over designed for the application.
The filter mounting flange is fabricated from aluminum plate & tube, certainly a quality piece.
Several have bought the kit and said they liked it VERY much. The quality is GREAT. The application is simple and different from the "other performance staks" on the market. It doesn't require the use of the headder heat shield stud to secure the AFM :)
The cost for all this FUN is ONLY $46.00 + shipping
If you would like one so you will be ready for the Spring please let me know & I will send you a photo & ship info (about a 5# carton from zip 17408).
Thanks much Gus  fiatman@comcast.net

Hope it's alright that I'm reviving an old thread here... just curious, would something like this give the engine a cooler sound? IAP advertises it as making the car sound "throatier".

Dustin,
In my opinion if there is a better sound it is pretty minor.Kind of like the old day when you turned the air filter lid upside down.I love the cone filter look, but there really isnt a noticeable performance gain.It really cleans up the engine bay to get rid of the shoebox filter, though. :D
