Need some advice/help. Just put in the engine I rebuilt,Ran it at 1500 -2000 rpms all week, everything seemed ok. Tonite it froze up on me while i was trying to check timing, his evening .(crap).Looks like the bottom half is locked up,took the timing belt off, cant turn crank.Cams turn along with everything else. Needs some advice, whats steps do I need to do to diagnois problem? Is there anything I can do without pulling engine out of car?? Thanks

Mike thanks for the offer, but I spent to much on the one thats not working. I pulled the engine, and the#2 connecting rod bearing is the problem. This was also my original problem.I took it to the machinist and I had the crank done and put oversized bearings in it, along with replacing the rod. Im not sure what happened? The bearing didnt spin. Im pretty sure the oil passages were clean, but the bearing looks like excessive wear,as compared to others. Plan on taking crank back to the machine shop, any other ideas, suggestions would be welcome. Ted
Mark, bearing size.010 over. This is my first engine rebuild, but im pretty sure I plastigauged the bearings. I did see some metal filings inside the crank journal hole,I ran an insulated wire through hole, and had some filings come out. If I did it right I miked the journal it was 50.55mm does this sound correct? (2liter?). If its within specs,I have a thin line on the journal with a small burr in the center, almost as if came out of hole in journal. Can this be buffed out, with crocus cloth or something else? Ted
