New idler

I was getting ready to install the new idler I bought last year. I found something that I think may be a problem. The top washer leavea a farely large space between it and the top of the idler.

Is this going to cause any problems? Should I press the shaft into the idler?

I'll answer my own question. I bought it from Vicks, and here's what they
had to say:
"It is odd but that is correct. The washer acts as a splash shield, but if is down too close it could rub and cause binding."

I hope someone else jumps in as I have the same idler and the same concern/question.

that bearing looks like it's not sealed. If it's not, I'd want more than a splash shield on it. What will keep dirt from getting into the bearing?
