Ride hight
Ride hight
Trial fitting the motor in my 73 for the first time and was wondering how high off the ground the top off the wheel opening should be off the ground with stock rubber? I have rebuilt the suspention all around with new bushings and have left the bolts slightly loose untill I know the ride hight is ok. The car has been without a drive train since 87.

Re: Ride hight
Not sure on a 73, but my 81 is 25-3/4" with 185/70/R13 tires.

Re: Ride hight
Front and rear suspensions need to be loose, then put about 200 pounds in the front seats (each) - two men. I also put a full tank of gas and two full 5 gallon gas cans in the trunk to weigh it all down, then I torque things down. Make sure it looks even and is on an even surface.mgbgtn wrote:Trial fitting the motor in my 73 for the first time and was wondering how high off the ground the top off the wheel opening should be off the ground with stock rubber? Actually pretty hard to do wrong, but if you get the front ones tight w/o the weight in the front seats then the bushings will get torn to hell. The rear I convince myself that it is held snug by the bolts but I know that a few laps around the block and it will settle down.
