My '77 Spider is sorely in need of a new top. I am considering doing the install myself to save on labor costs. I have never replaced a top before, and am wondering how difficult of a project it would be. I'd like to think that I'm pretty good at following an instruction manual, but I don't want to discover in the end that it's too big of a project for me to finish on my own. Should I try it myself?!?

I replaced mine by reading what is here on this site and did not find it to difficalt. You just need to check every thing as you go and take your time. If you are good with your hand and understanding what you read you will be fine.

just keep it centered in the back and front
i bolted up the back then glued the front and screwed it down then locked it in place to dry

when bolting up the back
watch both sides so that theres about the same over hang
on the front place some tape on the bottom of the top bow and put a mark on it at center
then the top on the bottomside put some tape and make a mark at center "stay back 4 to 5 inches for the top bow"
then apply the glue"rubber contact cement"let dry untill tacky then put the top on the top bow
lining up the marks
and all should go together nice
after all the parts are together close up the top and let dry 12 hours
