Last fall, i yanked all the emissions stuff off the '80 carb'd Spider, installed a '76 1800 intake, and a 32/36 DFEV Weber, a "lunch box" air breather, a '73 4-2-1 exhaust to the already existing cat eliminator pipe. I've had a dual tipped ANSA for a couple of years.
This spring I put on a Michigan SHORTER SHIFTER, and asked my wife to test drive the car.
She immediately turned to me and said...Something's wrong! This car goes faster than mine (she has a '78 stock Spider). FIX THAT PROBLEM!
Well, with her orders, i swapped in a new 32/36 DFEV Weber, a 4-2-1 exhaust, eliminated the catalytic converter, and all remaining emissions equipment. I added a "lunch box" air breather, and a Michigan SHORTER SHIFTER.
She's now smiling from ear-to-ear and i cannot get her to slow down enough to put in new spark plugs!! eventually she gets a better muffler, and possibly loose her resonator pipe.
any one else experiencing these issues with their spouse?
