HELP ! !

7 years ago, I purchased my 78 124 Spider up in Salt Lake City, Utah and brought it back to San Diego. While I was there, the guy mentioned that there was an individual who had Fiat parts. On my way out of town (bravely, I drove my car back to S.D.) I stoped and perused his parts. I bought the lot of used parts that he had and up against the wall was a hardtop that he thought went to a 124 Spider. We picked it up and set it on the car. The front latches fit fine, but there was nothing on the inside or on the back to latch it down. Never the less, I bought it and drove home with in on the car.

Flash forward 7 years and I have found out that it is a Pinninfarina Hard top, albiet a little worse for wear. The vinyl is cut in several spots and needs to be replaced. The window gasket is hard, so removing the rear glass will be difficult without cutting it, but not knowing if there are gaskets available, I am very reluctant to do so. I have been soaking the gasket daily with silicone spray hoping that it will soften up so we can retrieve the seal and glass without any damage.

The chrom strips came out ok and are in pretty good shape. Being aluminum, they were easily straightened out and I am debating about re-chroming them as they look fine.

My problem; the rubber side window gaskets are aged. The passanger side is un-damaged and can probably be re used if I remove it and soak it in silicone. Hopefully, that will restore some of the suppleness to the gasket. The driver's side is shot. It is torn and looks un repairable.

The gasket that goes on the front lip that seals onto the windshield is intact, however, it would be best to find some replacement foam gasket for the windshield. There is no gasket that goes around the botttom (of the top) that fits onto the deck. There are no latches for the inside to latch the hard top to the inside of the top frame.

Can anyone direct me to someone who restores these and or has parts for the Pinn. Tops? Replacing the vinyl exterior isn't a problem nor is replacing the headliner material. Your help in this matter will be deeply appreciated.

Randy
