Classic Steering wheel

Post by cbrown1469 »

Hi all,

Just wondered if you could advise on the standard steering wheel size of a 1980 spider, the after market requirements for a boss etc and if you could recommend any really classic wooden brands?

Also, seen some real nice MOMOs style MBG ones. Will they fit if I get the right boss for the Spider.

Thanks again, feel like I'm being a pest but I really am enjoying the group , Spider ownership and the camaraderie.

the stock hub on your car will accept a MOMO wheel, it's a direct bolt on

I have a 74 Spider wood (plastic) steering wheel that I was thinking of adding to my 81. From what I've read so far it should fit, correct?

Hmm. Are the ones that look wood and sell for over 300$ actually plastic? I like the look, but I'm unsure, and the stock black with rubbery wrapping looks good too i think but mine the rubbery part is loose and moves around on the wheel.

No, they are wood. The slightly smaller diameter of the modern wheel gives you a little more knee room, but it also results in higher steering effort. Something to consider if you have very wide tires.
