I've been lurking this forum for awhile and thought I would finally post. I recently bought a 80 spider and started a reso mod on it. So far I did a quick paint job and pulled the motor for a rework. I will post some pics and detail my work to get your thoughts and Ideas. Any suggestions on the engine?

As for the engine, a few important questions.... like budget....what are you looking for with the car (daily driver, day to day drivability with a bit more zip?...
The stock FI engine might be considered a bit more restrictive compared to a carb'd car but one can add perhaps 20 hp and have a blast and still works great in traffic. No end to what you could spend, but head work, cams, adjustable cam wheels, headers, after market pistons, lightened flywheel.....2-5 grand later.... just for the engine... then suspension upgrades... addictive little buggers these cars are..

So heres a link to some photos of the Fiat, the first one is how I got her and a few of my garage paint job. This was about 8 months ago and now the engine is out and I plan on going through the entire care. Narfire I really do not have a budget to speak of, if it takes me 6 months to a year and a few bucks to do it right that is what I will do. It will be a semi daily driver and I'm hoping to get some performance out of it. I have been porting and polishing the head over the last few weeks and really just cleaning up all the engine parts. She obivously had a pretty bad oil leak before I got it. I have all the parts to rebuild the fron suspension right now and will probably do that over the next few weeks.

I think I scored this weekend on a pair of replacement seats. I found a set of 77 Porsche 911 leather seats. I did a yes fit and they seem to work extremely well. I had to make a set of custom mounts but it was fairly easy. I will take some pics and explain how I got them to fit. They are nice high back seats that take me back to my 850 days.

A little update on my Resto. My head is out for a valve job after I polished and ported it. Matched my pistons to within one gram of each other (i weighed the pistons complete with connecting rod and bearings). Started working on re-coloring the Seats and of course paint and lots of cleaning. Here are a few pics. Seat without re-color Seat with re-color and finally the engine with the pistons in

Well had some time to work on the car. Engine is almost ready to go back in...sure hope I put it back together correctly.

Any reason you didn't go for higher comp pistons?

It' been awhile since my last update. The engine is complete and in the car, been working on some of the interior by cleaning the floor pan and installing some EZ cool, I have also installed some carpet and working on a custom grill. Is this a dent in the hood? I would of figured since you when through all the trouble to paint it you would of fixed it...

Nice job on your floor pan was the ez cool easy to put down and was a glue needed.

No there is no dent in the hood, . As for the EZ Cool, just some decent spray adhesive and yes very easy. I didn't answer quickly because I was outside working on that car.
