40 IDF Question...

Post by MIGHTY 8 »

Hello everyone!

Here's my dilemma:

After installing Vick's 40/80 cams, I am not very impressed with the results.

I'm currently running with the stock 32mm venturi's on a dual setup. Im pretty new to carb setup theory, but I have the feeling that this is on the low side for Fiats. I recall some people here running with 35mm or there abouts.

Its a 2L and in addition, there's a 4-2-1 IAP manifold and the de reguir dual Ansa muffler.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Can you tell us some more about the engine? Do you have High compression pistons ? Whats your timing set at? Did you measure and index the cams with adjustable pullies? What vavle lash are you running? All of these things will affect the performance of the engine.

Run of thumb: More cam requires more compression, More cam requires more static advance.

Thanks for your responses guys!

The car is garaged about a 1000 miles from me! Unfortunately, I can't respond to most of these questions until I get back to my baby.

About the only one I can get is, no, it doesn't have the higher compression pistons. The compression was checked a few months ago, with no mention of any piston being lower then what the factory manual shows.

I'll keep this list of your questions in mind for when I get back to start trouble-shooting.

Thanks again, all.
