Good day, does anybody know where i can locate a body manual for my 1979 fiat spider? it looks like i need to repair or replace my sill behind the rocker panels. i am looking to find measurements specs so i can determine the correct spacing where my doors go so i can tack bars in place of the doors while i'm doing the repair so i don't distort the body shape. thank you. any input on a good way to replace the sill would be a great help! (pictures would be awesome!)

If the car is still together and the doors are on. take measurement now and tack in your supports before removing the doors. If your doors hang correctly now, drill a 3/16" hole thru each hinge section and use the drill bit to realign the doors when you are finished.

I'm actually replacing the sills on one of my project cars. Had to order the parts from Spiderpoint in Germany. Wolf Steel in Canada also makes just the outer sill depending on what you need.

Well that picture thing sure is confusing. Too me forever to figure it out. Here is what I do:

First, you must post your pictures on photobucket.com or one of the similar competing websites. You can't post pics directly from your compooter. So set up a free account there first.

Then in your FS.com post, look for the "Img" box at the top of the post, #9 from the left in the row of command icons.

Put the cursor where you want the pic to appear in the post (leave a few spaces after text is a good idea) and click the "Img" button/icon above.

Then go to the photobucket.com site (or competitor) and find your pic and click the "Direct Link" or similar button. In Photobucket, it will respond with a "copied" indication.

Go back to your FS.com post and make sure the cursor is in between the 2 Img boxes: then right click and hit "paste" and the web link for the pic will show up in between the 2 img boxes.

When you post the post, the pic will now be there!

In photo bucket when you hover over the picture you want, you will get a drop down menu, click on the 4th one, the "img" one & it will say copied then just paste that directly in your post here - done.

You have to be very careful to paste when the cursor is exactly between the boxes, directly centered, otherwise it won't work, as just happened (twice it looks like). Like this: [ img ] cursor here [ img ] then hit "Paste"

It is an incredible PITA to post pictures on this site, no argument there!

When I have tried Doc's approach to paste directly into the text without the IMG boxes it doesn't work. Must be some gremlin of my computer's SW... I need to drop in the [img] boxes.

Like this, only between the [img] [img]

"http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p53 ... 2/nose.jpg" (no quotes of course)

Once you figure it out its pretty easy. Took me a while though.

well i can reach behind the rocker panels and put my fingers up into the sills on both sides. http://www.alfaparts.net/fiatspider.html has the replacement sill sections in 18 guage steel for around $45.00 each. i'm just not sure where i have to brace the car in order to cut out the old sill and weld in the new one. i dont want to disturb the measurements of door openings and such. thank you for your help and insight with this matter 8)
